EMS2ED is designed to support clinical communication between Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and hospital emergency departments (EDs). We collect only the minimum data necessary to provide and improve our services.

a. Personal Information (Limited Use)

We may collect:

• User identifiers (e.g., name, work email, employee ID) when provided during account registration or institutional setup.
• Credentials for login and authentication (encrypted and securely stored).

We do not collect or store personal identifiers without your knowledge or consent.

b. Health and Patient Data

The App may process patient handover data entered by EMS personnel, including:

• Vital signs, clinical impressions, medications administered, and mechanism of injury.

This data:

• Is not stored on personal devices,
• Is encrypted in transit and at rest, and
• Is handled in compliance with applicable privacy legislation (e.g., Alberta's Health Information Act, Canada's PIPEDA, and HIPAA in the U.S. if applicable).

We do not use or share identifiable patient health information for analytics, advertising, or third-party purposes.

c. Usage Data

We may collect anonymous analytics to improve performance, such as:

• Crash logs
• Feature usage patterns
• Time stamps

All analytics data is de-identified and aggregated.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide secure and seamless handover functionality between EMS and EDs
• Authenticate and manage user accounts
• Improve the app's performance, reliability, and security
• Comply with regulatory obligations and institutional contracts

• With hospitals or EMS agencies who have authorized your access
• With service providers who support secure hosting, authentication, or crash monitoring (under strict contractual obligations)

• On encrypted Canadian or institution-approved cloud servers (e.g., AWS, Microsoft Azure)
